Bakeries in Lexington: doughnuts, bread, cakes and panaderias

Lexington’s bakeries run from Spalding’s doughnuts on Winchester Road to bread in the Warehouse Block on National Avenue and pastries on East Third Street near North Limestone. Others sit at Rosemont Garden, along East New Circle Road, in Hamburg and in the Alexandria Drive and Oxford Circle area, where the panaderias are.

How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Lexington-Fayette, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 16, 2026. We added Spalding’s, Martine’s Pastries, Wild Lab, Olive’s Apron, Purple Yum and Crumbl from their own sites. Where a bakery has no working website, we kept it only if the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s records show a 2026 inspection at that address. We left out Bluegrass Baking Company, whose website no longer loads and which has no current inspection, and Panera Bread, a sandwich chain. Brevede Coffee Co. calls itself a coffee shop and bakery; it is on our breakfast and coffee list. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. Crumbl. The cookie chain’s Lexington store is in Hamburg on Sir Barton Way, with delivery and pickup.

Martine’s Pastries. A bakery, cafe and pastry shop on East Third Street that makes daily desserts, cakes and wedding cakes.

Olive’s Apron Bakery & Tea Shop. A bakery and tea shop at Rosemont Garden that also books afternoon teas and tea parties; it asks for 24 to 48 hours to answer requests.

Purple Yum Bakery Cafe. A bakery cafe on East New Circle Road that calls itself Lexington’s original Asian bakery. Its menu includes filled buns and whole cream and crepe cakes to order.

Spalding’s Bakery. A family-owned bakery that has hand-formed doughnuts since 1929; its original is a glazed yeast doughnut. It also sells filled and cake doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, brownies and cakes, takes special orders by phone and closes at noon.

Wild Lab Bakery. A small-batch bakery that started as a licensed cottage bakery and opened a bread shop in the Warehouse Block in February 2024. It sells bread and bagels and serves lunch Wednesday to Friday.

The places without working websites. Al Taj Bakery, Backroads Bakery, Donut Days, Frank’s Donuts, J.F. Bongout Bakery and Grocery, Jeff’s Donuts, both North Lime Coffee & Donuts shops, Nothing Bundt Cakes, OMG Donuts and the three panaderias each had a health inspection at the address shown in 2026. Call ahead for hours.
