How to enroll
FCPS places students at the school where they are zoned by home address; look yours up on the SchoolSite Locator. Kentucky requires children 6 to 18 to attend school, and a child must be 5 on or before Aug. 1 to start kindergarten. The enrollment page sets out three steps: gather the paperwork, register online, then book an appointment with the school registrar to finish in person.
You need:
- The child’s birth certificate or another accepted proof of identity
- Two proofs of residence: a deed or lease in your name, plus a current utility or tax bill
- A current Kentucky immunization certificate and proof of a recent preventive health exam (the child cannot attend until the immunization certificate is on file)
- Proof of a dental exam and an eye exam, due by Jan. 1
- Any court documents about the child
Birth certificate applications are available from the Fayette County Health Department, 650 Newtown Pike, 859-252-2371. Requests to attend a school outside your zone open after spring break.
Boundary changes
The district’s Project Right Size, Bright Future redrew elementary boundaries for a new elementary school on Greendale Road that opens in fall 2027. The school board approved the plan, known as Plan 2B, on June 22, 2026. The district’s interactive map shows how the new lines affect any address.
Ratings and test scores
